Arthouzz, formerly Stephenson Brooks Properties was started by Julie Brooks, a former student of Cleveland College of Art and Design, who became a Textile Designer in 1988 after completing her degree in Birmingham.  She bought her first two properties in 1998, carried out their renovation and became a registered landlord with the Northern School of Arts.

Catherine Stephenson a retired Dental Surgeon who ran her own practice for twenty five years met Julie in 2012 and they began to develop a portfolio of houses to accommodate students from the art  College. By 2018 they had bought a further 12 houses, renovating them all to a very high standard, retaining as many of the original Victorian features as possible.The houses are fully furnished. They range from three to six bedrooms, offering a total of 62 bedrooms and are rented on an all inclusive basis. The properties are all within a short walking distance to the Northern School of Arts and a 30 minute train journey to Middlesbrough train station and have the advantage of on street residential parking for students who own cars.

Julie and Catherine are registered landlords with the NRLA (National Residential Landlords Association) and are total “hands on” landlords being the first point of contact for the students. They are supported by a dedicated team of tradesman with fast response to any repair work.
